| From Sandgate Squash Centre |
Colts Match 1: Wavell’s Robbie Simpson (#9 ranked QLD Boys U/19) was too strong for Scarborough’s Jason Barrett (#4 ranked Australian Boys U/15) winning 3-0. Match 2: Wavell’s Ben Hodgkinson (#7 ranked QLD Boys U/16) got the Wavell team off to a great start by beating Bethany Brazier (#2 ranked Australian Girls U/13) 3-0. Match 3: Scarborough’s Matt McKendry was too strong for Wavell’s Luke Hodgkinson (#9 ranked QLD Boys U/14) winning 3-0. Luke showed great determination against his much older and taller opponent but it wasn't enough for victory. After finishing the home and away season in fourth position, Wavell punched above their weight to be crowned premiers of the Colts competition. Stars of tomorrow were on display with the youthful Barrett and Brazier being earmarked as ones to watch. J2 Match 1: Deception Bay’s Scott Albrecht towered over his much younger Scarborough opponent James Scott (#4 ranked QLD Boys U/12) in the first match of the J2 final. James Scott displayed a great deal of courage against his sizable opponent but was defeated 3-0 in a one sided affair. Match 2: In a classic match, Deception Bay’s Caitlin McCutchen (#4 ranked QLD Girls U/14) beat Scarborough’s Jess Turnbull (#1 ranked QLD Girls U/12) in a one hour marathon winning 3-2 in a test of endurance. Having claimed the enduro award at the Coops Doubles Tournament, today's final proved too much for young Turnbull falling just short of another miraculous victory. Match 3: Deception Bay conceded a forfeit in the the No.3 position handing Jack Sifonios a 3-0 win. However this didn't prove costly with Scarborough falling just short of a memorable grand final victory. Deception Bay were the competition front runners all season with the seven remaining teams battling all the way to final series. Deserved champions, Deception Bay were crowned Premiers of the J2 Junior Fixtures for Winter, 2007. Match 1: Deception Bay’s Ellen Rigby was too strong for Scarborough’s Mark Greenfield winning 3-0. The score was not indicative of a fierce battle though with many long rallies highlighting the contest. Greenfield left nothing behind but Rigby showed her class winning in straight games. Match 2: In a massive effort, regular Scarborough No. 3 Josh Crandall was required to play up in the No. 2 position against Deception Bay’s Bryan McLean. McLean proved too strong though winning in four games. Match 3: Scarborough were forced to forfeit the third match handing Deception Bay’s Daniel Mollenhauer a 3-0 win. This was enough to hand Deception Bay the title for Winter 2007. J4 Match 1:Scarborough’s Sam Calam beat Deception Bay’s Alex Eustace 3-0 getting Scarborough away to a flyer. Match 2: Deception Bay’s Jade Eustace leveled the tie beating Scarborough’s Elliot Johns 3-0. Match 3: In the third and deciding match, Scarborough’s Timo Pekkanen proved too strong for Deception Bay’s Saxton Tauvao winning in straight games 3-0 and handing Scarborough the title for the 2007 Winter series. All matches were fiercely contested but played in the finest spirit.
